How professional development increases satisfaction and decreases response time

Last year, Providence Public Schools registered over 30 frontline staff members for a series of customer service courses offered by K12 Insight

The results were tremendous. The district’s average customer experience (Cx) score increased from 5 to 8.03 (out of 10) and its average response time decreased from 5.8 business days to 1.07 business days.

The need for professional development

Professional development is a hot topic in school districts this year. 

In a report from Ed Week, only 50% of school principals said their district provided continuous professional development opportunities. In addition, about half preferred some sort of online option for professional development. Even for teachers, learning to work cooperatively with families and parents is a top professional development priority. 

In our 2020-21 Benchmark Report on District- and School-Level Employee Engagement, we found employees desired more professional development opportunities and training to help them meet the requirements and expectations of their jobs.
