Fort Bend County, Texas
Seventh-largest district in Texas. 71,000 students. 9,000 teachers and staff. One of the most diverse districts in the country: 29 percent African American; 19 percent white; 22 percent Hispanic; 22 percent Asian.
In 2013, the district faced significant financial hardships. District Superintendent Charles Dupre sought to earn back community trust by giving parents, staff and others more input into school decision-making.
The district partnered with K12 Insight to launch Chat with Charles, an online feedback solution that allowed community members to connect with the superintendent and other school decision makers 24/7.
Chat with Charles is just one piece of a larger strategic communications plan created to help the district better engage with the many members of its large and historically very diverse community. The district views K12 Insight as its “partner” in that process.
