500 Blog Posts are Live on the 205 VIBE!

It’s celebration time, and we’re full of gratitude. The Communications Department launched the 205 VIBE in 2018, and we were excited about asking our staff, students and families to tell firsthand stories about their work and experiences. We expected to have a single blog post – maybe two – each month. This month we’re celebrating 500 blog posts on the 205 VIBE. FIVE HUNDRED! That’s 500 stories about Rockford Public Schools! We have celebrated staff awards and retirements, highlighted creative teaching and student success, and we have struggled through the pandemic. All of it together on the 205 VIBE. Thank you for contributing to the 205 VIBE. We are proud to share your stories, and we are looking forward to reading – and sharing – the next 500.

Help us keep the momentum going! We want your stories. Contribute to the 205 VIBE Blog!

Episode 34: Rockford University Partnership: Growing RPS 205 Graduates into RPS 205 Teachers

"Teachers are not only just teachers. They’re counselors, sometimes. They are a second parent. Sometimes even the only parental figure for some of our students. And I don’t think a lot of society really understands the amount of time and energy it takes to wake up in the morning and step into that classroom and be ready to be with these kids. It takes a village, and we’re all doing it for these students."

- Tony Ramirez, Jefferson High School graduate and student teacher at Lincoln Middle School
