SOMSD Math KIVA

SOMSD held a KIVA on Mathematics on December 16, 2015.

Participants were asked to consider the following questions:

In your opinion, what is the purpose of the district’s current math program and how do we go about accomplishing that purpose?
It is clearly documented and known that students of color are underrepresented in higher level math courses. What should be done to address this reality?
One clear interest emerging from the Education Summit is for the district to do more in the area of STEM or STEAM. How can math best play a role in such a curriculum shift?
