SPS Volunteer Services
To effectively support our educators and students, each school has a designated Volunteer Program Liaison. Volunteers and applicants contact their liaison directly. Based on the specific volunteer support needs of each school, Volunteer Program Liaisons are responsible for processing applications and submitting tech support tickets to fill priority volunteer positions.

From mid-August until late November, we experience very high volumes of volunteer applications and renewals. Thankfully, we are starting the new school year with 20,000 volunteers with up-to-date volunteer applications and background checks! Due to limited staff capacity, background check processing and volunteer support tickets can take up to 20 business days. SPS staff are encouraged to lean on the support of already-approved volunteers until November, so Volunteer Program Liaisons can be trained and oriented to their role first.
Here are some frequently asked questions and tips to help volunteers find answers quickly:
- Want to find out if you are approved to volunteer? Please contact your volunteer liaison directly. Per board policy, each school approves the volunteers allowed to serve in their buildings. The central office manages the database that provides schools with the information they need to approve their applicants and verify volunteers' identities.
- ASM Prevention course "stuck"? Try these: (1) Zoom out or scroll down to locate the "continue" or "next" boxes. (2) Try using a different internet browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc). (3) Use a different device - visit your local library if you don't have other devices at home.
- Not sure if your volunteer application was received by the school or is complete? Please contact your Volunteer Program Liaison.
