Funding for the initial design for the Visual & Performing Arts Improvements project was included in the FY2026 – FY 2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).  This funding provides initial scoping, programming, and early concepts for the first eleven (11) schools.  In FY2027, funding will support the start of design and construction processes for the first four (4) schools as identified in the CIP.  Overall, this multiyear phased project provides funding for additional fine arts, theater, and musical instrument storage space and program improvements for art, theater and music at most existing middle schools (17) and high schools (16).  At high schools, the projects will also address storage needs for marching band, either attached or detached from the main school building, as best suited for each site; a marching band observation tower will also be constructed adjacent to each high school’s designated outdoor practice area.

Timing of individual school projects may be tied to other capital budget projects.
