Wilson County Schools, Let’s Talk!
The Finance Department of the Wilson County Board of Education is dedicated to providing the most efficient and effective management of the school district’s financial affairs in compliance with budgetary policies instituted by the Board of Education and other regulatory agencies. The financial data provided by this department ensures that responsible decisions can be made regarding the operational and capital projects budgets of the school district and it provides accountability for these ever increasing budgets. Also maintained in this department are the Vendor Listing and the Bid List for issuance of Bids and RFPs.
The Federal Projects Compliance Office handles funding and use of all grants received by Wilson County Schools.
The Accounts Payable Department is responsible for collecting information, pre-auditing data and collecting payment documents for goods and services. This department operates under Board policies requiring proper requisitioning and encumbering of funds along with receipt and payment procedures.
The Benefits Department oversees the Employee Benefits Plan, Property and Casualty claims, and Workers Compensation.
FIXED ASSETS/BOOKKEEPING SUPPORT
The Fixed Assets Department/Bookkeeping Support maintains a database of all school district assets of equipment and technology. This department also lends support to all building level Bookkeepers to ensure compliance with Board and State policies. The Use of School Facilities Policy and guidelines for School Support Organizations are also maintained in this department.
The Payroll Department works in conjunction with other departments to prepare and process the school district’s semi-monthly payroll. This department is also responsible for Section 125 Plan and 403(B) Plans.
